Teres 1981

A sketch I did of my wife, then-girlfriend Teres when we first started going out. Pencil, paper. I wasn't that familiar with her family yet so when she took my drawing and rushed off to show her mom, all I could think of was how breast-centric my picture was of her 15-year-old daughter and how fast I could get out the bathroom window.

As it was, her mom praised the pic and pointed out that the shadow in Teres' cleavage would be going the other way. I think I stammered a thank you. Teres mom was an extremely cool person.

I inked it later, but on retrospect I prefer the original. It's pretty faded now and has undergone multiple spills and rips, but I scanned it in and cleaned it up somewhat, resisting the urge to redo it. Mostly resisting. It's also obvious what I did and didn't like about drawing people at this point. Liked hair and breasts, hated hands. Haven't changed much.
